Fall TERM 2021 Updates

We are continuing to offer in-person lessons and outdoor lessons when the weather permits.  

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the age of our students, indoor restrictions are still in place. Everyone is required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status per CDC guidelines.  

COVID Safe Studio Policies:

Enrolled students and parents should refer to the current Student & Parent Handbook for a full list of studio policies.

  • Everyone entering the building must wear a mask at all times. 

  • GTKFA will screen all students and staff for COVID-like symptoms on a daily basis before entering the building. 

  • Students/staff with symptoms, close contact, or known exposure to a positive COVID-19 case must stay home and notify GTKFA. 

  • Maintain physical distance of at least 6 feet from others. 

  • Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer often.

  • Food is not permitted in the studio. 

  • Parents/family are once again permitted to observe classes from the waiting areas.

How long is each lesson?
Lessons vary between 50-60 minutes. Please see specific course listings and schedules for the exact class length.

Do you offer a free trial class?
Every course is available to try for free the first time.

What age does my child need to be to take lessons?
We offer courses for various age groups ranging from 5 years old and up. For specific class requirements please see the class listing.

Where are the lessons held?
Martial arts lessons are held in our studio, online, and outdoors (weather permitting). All other courses; such as Math and coding are held 100% online.

Will I need to purchase any uniforms or additional materials?
Martial arts students will need to purchase a pair of mat shoes, training pants, and various weapons as they advance in their training. For all other courses, no additional materials are required to be purchased.

Can I watch my child take his/her lesson?
Yes, you may observe all lessons. However, due to current Covid-19 restrictions, parents must wear a mask while in the studio.

What if my child misses a class?
Please notify us ahead of time if you plan to miss any lesson(s). For martial arts students, make-up lessons are offered twice a month by appointment. Check with the instructor for availability. For all other online courses, a recording of the lesson will be available upon request.

Can I enroll in a class that has already started?
Yes, for most courses. For some courses such as Intermediate Scratch and Python, it would not be recommended unless the student has prior experience.

What course should I start with?
The beginner level course is the recommended course to start with. If you have prior experience you will need to speak with the course instructor for advanced placement.

How much does an Extended Learning course cost?
All courses are $15 per lesson. All courses are billed monthly with 8 lessons per billing cycle.

How much does a martial arts course cost?
All courses are $15 per lesson. All courses are billed monthly with 8 lessons per billing cycle.

Booking Lessons:
Standard lessons are booked in a minimum of 4-week segments, with 1-2 lessons per week. Tuition is calculated based on a monthly system. Below are the class options we currently have for MARTIAL ARTS lessons only.
We encourage all martial arts students to take the classes twice a week for the most effective training. The lowest rate of $15 per lesson is offered. Usually, there are 7 to 9 classes per month. If there are less than 7 lessons in a month due to holidays or school closures, the lowest discounted price of $15 per lesson will be applied.
The rate is $20 per lesson if students attend class only once a week. For example, if students take 4 classes per month, the rate is 4 classes for $80.

When are tuitions due? Are there any late fees?
Registration and tuition fees are due on or before the first lesson. Monthly tuition is due on or before the 1st lesson of each month. Late payments will incur a 10% service fee.

What equipment or technology do I need to begin?
No equipment is needed to begin a martial arts class. A desktop computer or laptop with a camera and microphone is required for all online classes.

Is there a sibling discount?
Yes, there is a 10% discount for siblings.

Is there a registration fee, and how much?
Yes, there is an annual registration fee of $35 for all martial arts and dance students. There is a one-time registration fee of $35 for all other students.

How much notice do I need to give before my student quits lessons?
30 days written notice. Refunds will not be issued without 30 days prior notice. Uniforms (including belts), Weapons, and Registration fees are non-refundable.

What should my student wear for a martial art class?
The school-issued shirt, training pants, and mat shoes are the required uniform for all lessons in the studio. Mat shoes are not required for outdoor lessons. For students trying the free lesson, any comfortable loose-fitting clothing with tennis shoes is recommended.
